John Bonadies July 27, 2012

I'm not sure what rank he was when he got out of the Navy, but I do know that he was married to Margaret who worked at the Farragut. O'B went up to Michigan for an event back in 2010. This is all the information I could find.

Sorry I don't have more info.

RIP John.

You are welcome Miriam. I knew John then as well, and his wife Margaret. I didn't realize he was almost 20 years older than me. I wish I had more information. Dave went out there I THINK for his 60th birthday maybe? He may have more information.

I did go to John's 60th birthday, he and Margaret were both good friends. John was diagnosed with brain cancer just after his birthday and gave a great fight for nearly two years, he insisted his condition be a private matter, which was why I had not posted it here. Thank you Rusty for letting all his shipmates know. Dave

I don't even know what triggered the desire to google him this weekend. Dave, I don't think you had even told me he had cancer, but you MIGHT have? I was on the website, and something in my head just said to look up John. Freaky. I am glad that you were able to attend his birthday party, I am sure in meant the world to both he and Margaret.

Love you.

I realise this may sound odd but I just found out John passed away. John was an A school instructor of mine and later we served on the same ship together (USS Nicholas FFG-47). He was a great guy and I had the utmost respect for him. He will be missed greatly.

I didn't realize that he was that much older than me, either. Had a lot of fun with him at the club with Margaret working on getting us drunk. He was a kind, gentle soul, always in great spirits. RIP John.
