Lack of respect and some down right insulting comments.

I think we should try again and set some rules. If we break the rules the forum goes away!

What do you all think?

Paul,

Here's the thing, the way I see it, by now anyone on this site knows how to behave. We are DS's after all, these are not idiots on here. If you act foolish, cannot govern your thoughts and cannot articulate your position well, in a manner building respect in the discussion, then no one is listening to you anyway. The last thing we need in this nation is more rules! We need human beings acting like human beings, using their God-given brains and following the Golden Rule- Do unto others as you would have them do unto you-this actually crosses all 'Religious' boundaries. Bottom line: BE NICE.

I am personally eager to read positions that actually move beyond the 2 party Hegelian Dialectic, of voting between two 'evils' that requires democratic 'Consensus' by the electoral process. We have all heard the two most common sides, just turn on Fox for the one side and CNN or MSNBC for the other....BORING...I know there are fellow DS's that think much deeper than that. At this point no opinion is a threat to me personally, I would like to stretch my view and entertain challenging ideas. Have you read the Federalist vs the anti Federalists? This wasn't the simple garbage coming out of the mainstream media.

Sounds excellent. So, would you like to be Sheriff of the politics forum?

I think Frank would be a good choice too. But I suspect he is still in recovery from the last time. There are the places that even the Kevlar won't protect. ;)

I did not consider myself savvy enough to engage in deep political debate, but I sure did enjoy and appreciate the usually well stated positions that were posted here when politics was allowed. I want to see it come back.

I'd like to see it brought back too.

I would recommend we call it something like "CIVICS" rather than the contentions "politics".

Rules: Civility (BE NICE). Respect for differing views. Discourage the use of ad hominems (personal attacks, "You" messages).

I am in favor of it returning too.

Question for the Site Admin (Perry): Is there a way to setup a user's profile that allows the user to pick which Forums they would like to view/block? Kinda like "Power to the People".

Bring it back - I've changed my political affiliation to the Contrarian Party (Motto: If you're for it - we're against it)
Here's a few of our party's "planks":

Mandatory drug use for recipients of gov't benefits. The rationale here being we need to keep them unmotivated
to compete for what few jobs are out there to give the rest of us a fighting chance.

Illegal immigration - make Mexico the 51st state - that way we only have to police that narrow border with Guatemala.

Health care - all American citizens to receive fake Canadian citizenship papers.

De-criminalize intelligence.

Yep, If my brother votes Dumbocrat, then I have to vote Republicannot. It's a matter of sibling homeostatic balance.

But annex both Mexico AND Canada for a natural (almost) contiguous border;
to create The United States of North America. The only problem is: The folks in Quebec would have a problem with the English only requirement.

Illegal immigration - make Mexico the 51st state - that way we only have to police that narrow border with Guatemala. Do they police? More importantly, it IS our 51st state

Health care - all American citizens to receive fake Canadian citizenship papers. We just copied it

<laughing> By defacto, isn't this already in place, or in the works??? The NAU (North American Union) is sure shaping up all around us.
